These were also more probable than children who didn't do a course to:

cycle to varsity (at grow older 14 and 16)own a cycle head protection (at grow older 14 and 16)have donned a motorcycle helmet on their last cycle trip (at grow older 14)have donned high-visibility clothing on their last cycle ride (at age group 16)

In spite of training, however , the researchers found:

Adolescent girls are far more unlikely to circuit than kids: Despite over 70 % of girls having a bike at 16, only 8 per cent had cycled in the previous week, and only one out of 60 cycled to school. This compares to higher than a third (37 per cent) of kids who had cycled in the past week, and one in seven kids who cycled to school. Headgear ownership would not equal make use of: Over half of the teenagers who owned a motorcycle also owned a helmet, but of people who owned a motorcycle helmet, only several in twelve had donned it on their last cycle. Very few young adults wear high-visibility clothing: Teenagers were very likely to have worn reflective or fluorescent clothing at age of sixteen than age 14, nevertheless even at age 16 only about one in 12-15 wore that on their previous cycle.

The findings of the research, done on five, 415 participants in Kids of the 90s, indicate pattern training courses for children can include positive and lasting rewards that continue from years as a child into teenage life. However , the reduced use of head gear and high-visibility clothing, as well as Bike Accessories the low levels of cycling to varsity among girls, suggests more can be done to encourage secure cycling among teenagers.

Dr Alison Teyhan, who led the research explained: "The aim of our survey was to examine how effective cycle working out for children is in promoting Buy riding a bike and safe biking behaviours. All of us found that cycle training has rewards that continue into adolescence qualified children are very likely to own and use a pattern helmet, to wear high-visibility clothes, and to cycle to school, if they are teenagers.

"While these are positive findings, we all also found that many teenagers don't wear a cycle motorcycle helmet or hi-vis clothing, and few teenage girls cycle however the majority of them own a cycle. There is therefore great probability of increase bicycling, and safe biking behaviours, in young people. inches

She added: "In countries with excessive rates of cycling like Denmark, Australia and the Holland, the use of protective equipment is low because the protection focus is placed elsewhere. Within the helmet or hi-vis garments does not quickly make cyclists safer, and there is lots of elements involved in cycling safety, which includes driver behavior, the physical separation of bikes and vehicles, and traffic-calming measures in household areas. inches
